samlrc - A Lonely Sinner

A Field of Floating Flowers for an Anxious Seclusion

Scenic Post-Rock is formed by a sweeping ambiance blessed with fluttering strings, heavy keys, and a devastating compound of guitar and drum oscillations. Bright string leads, gentle acoustic guitar, and warping samples paint the picture of an unassuming countryside, tender in the wake of gray clouds ahead. As tempos increase and dense electric guitar consumes the mix, the battering of hefty percussion delivers a mighty storm upon the humble farmstead. It is this natural progression that showcases samlrc's apt for brilliant landscapes and vivid melancholia.

As the record twinkles with its pale whistles and frail chimes, a stark darkness hits in crushing waves. An overarching theme of social alienation is whispered before thick guitar-work plows through flush environments. While the album does get off-course during a few less-focused arrangements, it is the tender-to-rough sonic narrative that is undeniably satisfying.

Once again, the 49 minute LP is a bit unfocused, with its most tedious tracks being at the start and finish. However, a consistency in elegant atmosphere creation, supreme mood, and fulfilling disposition deliver all the traits for an excellent Post-Rock experience.
