Yersin - The Scythe Is Remorseless
Swift Sludge Shows No Mercy
Fat kicks, hulking riffs and obliterating tempos bolster a posture of surging fury. Straightforward Sludge Metal guitar mixes well with destructive Crust Punk progressions, becoming a balefire of wrath and rage. Where some movements become oafish due to bulky compositions, others are relentless through flinging drums and absolutely monstrous riffs.
It is such moments of intensity that make Yersin's sophomore album a memorable experience. Coupled with a wide array of guttural screams, shouted verses, and grim atmospheres, The Scythe Is Remorseless cultivates a Lovecraftian environment of colossal scale.
However, a short run time of just 24 minutes and a building uniformity among tracks disallows for a more rewarding Metal episode.
