Alfa Mist - Variables

London Fusion Artist, Alfa Mist Chimes in with Swinging Jazz Fusion and Laid-back U.K. Hip-Hop.
Anchored by shadowy bass lines, rain drop drumming and a mix of acoustic and electric guitars, cerebral atmospheres give elegance to the trauma of stereotyping and paving a personal path to righteousness.

Traditional Fusion tracks offer extensive saxophone based instrumentals, where dim upright bass, ascending electric guitar and swift cymbals emphasize dark wavelengths. Brief concentrations of reverb give ambiance to wavering saxophone solos and consistent keys. These Jazz ensembles transform into shorter, Neo-Soul inspired songs, where experiential Rap and indigenous melodies take over. Samba drums, female vocal refrains and more relaxed tempos service gentle guitar playing, furthering a rooted feeling of institutional gloom.

Alfa Mist is at their best when utilizing the freeness given by longer-form Jazz progressions. On tracks such as, 'Foreword,' 'The Gist,' and the title track, skillful horns and tantalizing guitar mix tastefully, almost crying together in the midst of social contusion. The rest of the project comes off a bit unfocused, where conscious Rap, Soul tunes and even orchestra sections live in their own separate worlds. All in all, the lengthier Fusion pieces eclipse the soft barrage of blurred influence, lingering in the mind as a winsome bruise of contemporary Jazz and Soul.
