Chini.png - El día libre de Polux

Chilean Art Rock Artist, Chini.png Offers a Bohemian Blend of Soft Shoegaze and Telluric Dream Pop in their Debut Solo LP.
Basic Rock drumming sits underneath jigging bass lines, as dark rhythm guitar distorts waves for a bright lead guitar to surf upon. Clean acoustic guitar also resonates during intros and progression changes, being the barrier between measured resonations and sonorous noise. These Pop cyclones of layered clamor are contrasted by faint keys and radiant digital effects, giving an ethereal texture to granular tracks.

The frowzy consistency of Chini's shoegazing sets an solemn tone that is intensified by the lyrics. Chini.png, or María José Ayarza elegiacally speaks of self-deprecation, undeserved love and gender dysmorphia. Ayarza employs many terrestrial metaphors to display their dejection, insisting that a shift in perspective won't be enough to engender happiness. This suggests something larger, more in tune with the Earth itself is needed for such dramatic change.

Although Ayarza's words carry much weight in already heady environments, their vocals tend to leave a lighter impact. Airy melodies burn across harsh noise, all too pale for dark instrumentals. At times, the vocals are strengthened by mingling harmonies, but upon returning to verse are quickly overshadowed by seared guitar play. There are also a couple of moments where the bass becomes overbearing, muddying interchanging refrains and complex tones.

In spite of these oral obstacles, El día libre de Polux prevails as a charming assortment of caliginous thought and billowing Art Rock.
