Daniel Caesar - NEVER ENOUGH

RnB Singer, Daniel Caesar Pushes Mellow Neo-Soul and Sybaritic Pop Blues in his 3rd Major Studio Effort.
Gutsy bass, minimalist drumming and light keys mingle with smooth backing vocals to form relaxed rhythms. These rhythms bend to tepid synths and pastel acoustic guitar as Caesar shows a range of confident tenor and autotuned bass.

With this range, Caesar exhibits a strong vocal performance. Alas, slow instrumental developments and hung songwriting wane the cloying effects of his voice. Drifting backing vocals, reverberated piano and glossy bass make for an intimate atmosphere, but flat drum patterns and simple, often repeated progressions add to leisurely writing.

As far as the lyrical content, Caesar lustfully croons of inconsistent desire, maturation and betrayal. Subtle anecdotal techniques offer vague sentimentalism, easy to catch on to, but harder to take outside of the music itself. The nonspecific nature of the lyrics serve as an example of the entire record's sound, pleasing in its sugary tones and seductiveness, but often vapid to subdued compositions.
