Me oh myriorama - Iris

An Oddity of Smashing Electronics and Cyber Hip-Hop

A barrage of Electronic, Psychedelic, and Industrial influences combine with a metaphysical assortment of Hip-Hop arrangements, resulting in a bizarre, but dance worthy experimental project. Heady synths, bells, and chimes decorate quick patterns of abrasive kicks and grating bass. Echoed claps keep rhythm while tenor vocal samples waver under obliterating beat breaks and tempo changes. Me oh myriorama, a.k.a Devyn Smith adds sharp vocals in the form of clamorous rap verses and shouted choruses.

The diverse and extensive production climate is what makes Iris a special project. Smith is able to design memorable cadences through destructive force, shining with particularly acerbic eccentrics. That being said, the vocals and lyrics are often acidic compared to the rest of the 23 minute LP, where satirical verse and pitch modifications stumble upon broad-based instrumentals. These oral deficiencies are quite impactful, but ultimately cannot stop the deviceful manufacturing from constructing an uncanny mark on Abstract Hip-Hop.

Best Tracks: Southbound -- Fanta seaworld -- Dissociation -- The petals of an iris

7/10
