Invent Animate - Heavener
Metalcore Outfit, Invent Animate Solidifies Anger and Loss in this Melodic Djent Expedition.
Jagged guitar, crisp drums and sharp compositions produce sounds of clean destruction. Somber piano echo in reflection before hammering kicks and smashing guitar rain in a flurry of tear filled atmospherics. Vocals switch between angered roars and gargantuan melancholy melodies. Although Heavener doesn't present a more unique set of metal statements, Invent Animate shows their knack for pure technique and ornate instrumentation. Emotive expressions of fading love, celebrating the life of lost loved ones and controlling one's trauma for good gives the album an overall uplifting and hopeful tone. While the first half of the 46 minute LP excels in its emotional engineering, the second half opts for a larger, more violent sound, defaulting to simpler and increasingly tedious guitar and drum patterns. In the end, Invent Animate is able to establish a relatively consistent package of garnished metal and euphonious hardcore refrains.
