Whirring post-industrial ambiance looms over abrasive trash can drums and high pitched digital effects. Screeching strings and droning organ give a deathly gothic tone to each track. Loud piano breaks and soft, yet theatrical spoken word highlight the closeness and discomfort that the music presents. Intimate anecdotes display the pure trauma of child abuse, rape, prostitution and depression-driven murder. While this album is poignant in its subject matter and frightening atmosphere, a slow-moving structure and understated vocals prevent more memorable relistens.
